Account settings
Open your account settings from the dashboard: click your name in the top right, then Settings. It has five tabs.
Profile
Change your display name, see when you joined, and manage two things that matter if you care about your data:
- Export my data. Downloads a JSON file containing your account, your workspaces, and your templates, plus every run with the detail attached to it: each step and how it turned out, the review decisions you made, any ratings and notes you left, and the recording prompts you were given. Your files are listed with their details; download the media itself from the workspace. Use the export to keep your own copy or to move elsewhere.
- Cookie settings. Reopens the cookie banner so you can change your analytics consent decision, including withdrawing it.
Security
Change your password: enter your current password, then the new one twice.
If you signed up with Google, there is no password to change here. Manage sign-in through your Google account instead.
Email verification
New accounts confirm their email address by clicking the link in the verification email. If you try to sign in before verifying, the sign-in screen offers Resend verification email.
If you forgot your password
On the sign-in page, choose Forgot password? and enter your email address. If that address has an account, you get an email with a link to choose a new password. The link expires in one hour and works only once.
The page always says the same thing whether or not the address has an account, so it can't be used to find out who has one. If no email arrives, check your spam folder, then try again. Requesting a new link cancels the previous one.
Setting a new password this way signs out every device, including the one you are on. Sign back in with the new password. If your account was never verified, using the reset link verifies your email address at the same time.
You can reset a password even if you normally sign in with Google, which helps if you lose access to your Google account. It adds a password to your account and leaves Google sign-in working.
Sessions
Every browser you are signed in on appears here, with the browser it identifies itself as, the IP address it connected from, and when the session was created and expires. Your current session is marked.
Revoke any session you do not recognize, or any you are finished with. That browser is signed out immediately. You cannot revoke the session you are using; sign out instead.
API keys
API keys let your own code and scripts call Puffin Ship. Creating one requires the Creator plan or above; see Plans. See the developer API reference for what you can do with one.
To create a key, give it a name you will recognize later, then choose:
- Scope, either all your workspaces or a single one. Scope a key to one workspace when it only needs to touch that workspace.
- Expiry, 30 days, 90 days, 1 year, or none.
The key is shown once, immediately after it is created. Copy it then, because it cannot be shown again. If you lose it, revoke it and make a new one.
Treat a key like a password: it carries your account's access. Revoke any key you no longer use, or one that may have leaked. Revoking takes effect at once.
Keys can run pipelines and read your data, but they cannot manage your account. Changing your password, managing sessions, and creating or revoking keys all require you to be signed in as yourself in a browser.
My submissions
If you have shared anything to the library, this tab lists it with its review status: Waiting for review, Approved, or turned down (with the reason). You can withdraw a submission that is still pending, or resubmit one that was declined after making changes. See Sharing a template.
Deleting your account
The Danger zone at the bottom of the Profile tab deletes your account. It is immediate and cannot be undone.
- Workspaces that only you belong to are erased, along with their templates, runs, and files.
- If you own a workspace shared with other people, you must transfer ownership first. The dialog names the workspaces blocking you. See Workspace members and roles.
- You confirm with your password, or with your email address if you sign in with Google.
If you want a copy of your data, export it before you delete.
Admin actions on other users
Admins have additional options for managing other users' accounts, available from the admin user list:
- Disable a user. This is reversible: the account stops working until an admin restores it.
- Safety delete a user. The account is deleted immediately, but Puffin Ship keeps it in a recoverable state for 24 hours before the data is permanently removed. An admin can cancel the pending removal at any time during that window to restore the account.
- Permanently delete a user. This removes the account and its data right away and cannot be undone.
Admins can select multiple users at once and apply the same action to all of them. Deleting a user who is the sole owner of a workspace shared with other people is blocked until ownership is transferred, unless the admin chooses to force the deletion, which removes the shared workspace along with the user. If a force-deleted user is safety deleted instead of permanently deleted, the shared workspace is not removed right away: it is removed once the 24 hour grace period ends, so admins should transfer ownership during that window if the workspace needs to be kept.
