# Puffin Ship > Puffin Ship is an AI video content automation platform. It turns anything you have (an idea, recordings, audio clips) into a fully edited video with AI. Production is too slow, too expensive, and too hard to manage. Most businesses already have the raw material (clips, calls, webinars, product info, customer stories); it just never becomes finished video. Puffin Ship closes that gap with software. ## What it is Puffin Ship is a self-serve web application. A user connects source material. The platform ingests it, generates the missing pieces, and assembles finished short-form videos, pausing for the user's review wherever they ask it to. The product is software the customer runs, not a managed service. Customers connect their own material and run the platform themselves. ## How it works 1. **Connect your source material**: add clips, calls, audio, ideas, or docs. Whatever you already have becomes source material for the run. 2. **AI builds your template**: your prompt becomes a reusable template. The AI generates hooks, scripts, captions, voice, and structure, filling in whatever is missing. 3. **Review, then export**: pause any step for review to approve, edit, or regenerate its output before the final render. Export a finished MP4, subtitle files (SRT), or a Final Cut Pro project (FCPXML). ## Core platform layers - **Input layer**: ingests whatever the user has: clips, calls, audio, ideas, and docs. - **Generation and template layer**: identifies what is missing and generates it: hooks, scripts, captions, generated video and audio, templates, segment formats, and transitions. The output ratio (9:16, 1:1, or 16:9) is set on the template. - **Review and export layer**: any step can be paused at a review gate where the user approves, edits, rejects, or regenerates its output before the run continues. Finished runs export as MP4, SRT subtitles, or an FCPXML project for Final Cut Pro. ## Pricing The Puffin Ship platform is free to use during early access, with no credit card required. Usage limits apply while the product is in early access and we scale up; users who need higher limits can contact us. Core AI generation and editing, reusable templates, review gates, selectable output ratios (9:16, 1:1, 16:9), and MP4/SRT/FCPXML exports are all included. There are third-party costs that do not go to Puffin Ship. Steps that call outside AI services (OpenAI for transcription, Google for AI video and image generation, HeyGen for AI presenters, ElevenLabs for voiceover) run on API keys the user supplies, and those providers bill the user directly at their own rates. Puffin Ship does not resell or mark up AI usage, and a user only needs keys for the services their template actually uses.
